GripAble is a multi-award winning start-up developing mobile tools for hand and arm training. We are looking for a highly motivated game developer to extend and expand on our current therapy games (developed in Unity) for release in our cross-platform mobile app. You will be a core part of the team and will collaborate closely with our software, hardware and clinical partners.

Core role
• Lead developer on our core cross-platform mobile app (Android/iOS)
• Implementation of backend services based on existing PaaS architectures
• Development of a web frontend acting as admin and carer portals to backend databases.
• Supervision of junior developer(s) and integration of their software (e.g. Unity games) into core app

Tech skills
We are looking for a highly motivated mobile cross-platform app developer, ideally with experience in developing either frontend and/or backend web applications. We are open to using different frameworks and you will make key architectural decisions based on your previous experience and current research. We would expect you to be conversant with some of the following frameworks:
Mobile: Swift (iOS), Java (Android), ReactNative (cross-platform), AngularJS (cross-platform), Ionic (cross-platform), HTML5 (Web app) or similar
Backend API: Ruby on Rails, Django Rest or similar
Backend Database: MongoDB, PostgreSQL or similar
Backend PaaS: AWS, Firebase or similar
Web frontend: Javascript, CSS, HTML, React or Angular

You will
• Have 3+ years of experience developing mobile apps, frontend and/or backend web services
• Have excellent problem-solving and communication skills
• Have the ability to thrive in a fast-paced development team
• Understand the importance of automated and scalable testing
• Enjoy a fast-paced Agile/Scrum/Jira culture
• Have experience of version control e.g. Git, Bitbucket

• Create new gaming concepts, integrating aspects of flow, gamification and narrative to capture long-term user engagement
• Work closely with our lead mobile developer to integrate games into cross-platform app and provide them with additional technical support

Tech skills
We are looking for a highly motivated and creative game developer, ideally with experience using the Unity game engine. However, we will also consider experienced developers on other game engines. We would expect you to be conversant with some of the following:
Game engine: Preferably Unity but will consider other engines
Software: Java, Swift, C#, or Python
Design tools: e.g. Illustrator/Photoshop (for basic sprite creation)
Bonus points: If you have experience in mobile app development, frontend and backend web services, data analytics, push notifications

You will
• Have 1+ years of experience developing games (Unity preferably)
• Have engineering graduate level programming experience (or equivalent)
• Have excellent problem-solving and communication skills
• Have the ability to thrive in a fast-paced development team

RESEARCH OPENINGS

Full-time, London UK, In partnership with Imperial College London
We are looking for an exceptional post-doc Research Associate in the area of sensor-based rehabilitation technology, and sensorimotor assessment & learning. The RA will be based at Imperial College London within the world famous Human Robotics Group (HRG), Dept. of Bioengineering (Prof Etienne Burdet) and Division of Brain Sciences, Imperial College NHS Trust (Dr P Bentley) and directly working with the GripAble team.

They will be part of a team of scientists, engineers, and clinicians, working at the interface of robotics and neuroscience, from neurophysiological studies and computational modelling to robotic implementations, VR-aided neuro-rehabilitation and assistive devices.

Applicants should have a PhD degree in topics related to robotics / mechatronics / computation and also a strong interest in rehabilitation and assistive devices, and/or sensorimotor learning and assessment.
